Experience
I have 12 years of experience working in the education field in the US and abroad, teaching and tutoring diverse groups of students. I have prepared students for various California state exams in elementary schools, done small group intervention work for math, reading, and new immigrant students, and taught courses in TOEFL and IELTS preparation. After having worked in a variety of educational environments, I have come to believe that teaching and tutoring is an art. Every person requires an individualized learning plan that works for their needs. I enjoy the challenge of this process, and I strive to master the thought process of each student to help him or her reach maximum potential. Mastering any course work can be simplified down to understanding one’s own learning style, and making it connect and synthesize with the information in any given class. My goal is to help students understand how they learn best, so that they may become more efficient in reaching their academic goals, and eventually become more self-sufficient in this process. I have taken a variety of courses in my studies, including a range of English courses, social science, law and philosophy. I studied law and legal theory in undergraduate, so I have a solid background in this area. For graduate school, I focused on education, with particular emphasis on social welfare, social justice and teaching English to non-native speakers.
